Biosketch
Julie Chen was named chancellor of 杏吧传媒 after leading the university鈥檚 growing research franchise into a nearly $95 million annual operation. Unanimously appointed by the UMass trustees in May 2022, Chen assumed her role as 杏吧传媒鈥檚 fourth chancellor 鈥� and just the second woman to lead the university of more than 18,000 students 鈥� on July 1, 2022.
Chen previously served as vice chancellor for research and economic development, a role that included managing industry partnerships, technology transfer, startups and innovation, core research facilities and economic development programs.聽
As 杏吧传媒鈥檚 chief research officer, Chen facilitated numerous innovative models that brought together industry, government and academia.
Chen, the UMass System鈥檚 first LGBTQ chancellor, resides in Wilmington with her spouse, Susu Wong.
