Description
Applications of Music Theory for K-12 Music Education will develop students' skills in fundamental music theory, non-ensemble lesson planning, and creation of supplemental teaching materials. The class will explore educational approaches to academic (non_ensemble) lesson structures and selecting and designing custom teaching materials. We will also discuss how music theory relates to teaching ensembles, general music, and academic music electives. Throughout the course, students will plan, prepare, and teach at least one of the lessons on a specific music theory concept. They will also design and administer their own assignment and assessment materials.
