Get Connected: PlayStation
Important Reminder for Game Consoles and Streaming Devices
If your device has been registered but still will not connect, it may be stuck in a temporary network role called SPLASH. This usually happens if the device was connected to the network before the registration process was finished. Once this role is cached, it can prevent your device from receiving the correct game console or media access it needs. To avoid this issue, always complete registration in the My Devices portal before connecting your device to the UMass Lowell network.
Connecting your PlayStation console to the Wireless Network
Before registering your PlayStation, you will need to find your wireless hardware MAC address. If you already have the MAC address, then you can skip this video and register your device with the My Devices Portal. If you are unsure, you can watch the video on registering a device with the portal. After your device is registered, connect to the UMassLowell network.
To find the MAC address of a PlayStation, please follow these steps:
- Power on the TV and PlayStation console with no disk in the drive (if applicable).
- Navigate to the Settings Icon.
- Select the System icon under the Settings menu.
- Select System Information
- Your MAC address should be displayed on the screen with the label “MAC Address (WiFi)”
- Write down the combination of letters and numbers exactly for reference later.
Once you have the MAC address of your PlayStation console, as stated above, register it with the My Devices Portal. If you are unsure how to do this, please watch our video on registering a device.
Once you finish registration, connect to the UMassLowell network, and the console should automatically obtain full internet access.
